When first arriving in the world of Dynamic Emotional Integration®, one of my favourite things to learn about were the gifts that emotions bring us. Emotions are here to help us and have gifts when we flow and engage with them? This was such a radical thought for me at the time, that my inner curiosity really sat up and wanted to know more.
Gifts like self-esteem, conviction, rest, connection, boundaries, and playfulness, to name a few, sounded like great things to have access to, right?!
My early days in the DEI community I’d lost touch with being able to identify and name many of my emotions. I would know I was feeling something, but would often get stuck on the which emotion I was feeling, which left moving onto the unique questions each emotion has just out of reach.
I could, however, at times identify which gift I was needing more of, or a state of being that would help me navigate whatever experience I was in. That’s when it hit me; I might be able to become more connected with my emotions through what I call a side-door approach. I could connect with an emotion through their unique gifts first, rather than beginning with recognition; I could actually jump into the emotional waters occurring rather than stay stagnant and stuck.
This was the first seed of what has become the Discover Your Emotions as Allies workshop coming up on November 27th that I’m so happy to share with you.
During the 2-hour workshop you’ll have an immersive experience through the process of examining your emotions by way of the gifts they bring us, examining your emotion identification skills, and bringing a new degree of awareness to your current emotional engagement patterns that are already unfolding.
DEI and its inclusive approach to emotions being a vital part of our psyches is a secret I don’t want to keep quiet anymore, so let’s spread the word…
Emotions are our allies!
