In our Dynamic Emotional Integration® community, we often talk about how difficult it can be to develop emotional awareness and emotional skills.
So many books, movies, professionals, memes, and messages tell us to treat our emotions as problems, and that’s not helpful! It’s also completely untrue.
In response, we’re starting a monthly Great Reads series, where we’ll share books that explore empathy and emotional awareness, help us understand ourselves and each other, and help us in our relationships, our communities, and our world.
We’ll begin with the book that started the entire Emotion Dynamics foundation: Karla McLaren’s The Language of Emotions: What Your Feelings are Trying to Tell You.
Karla calls this book her “unified theory of emotions,” because it explores every emotion in terms of what it does, how it works, how you can work with it, and what gifts, skills, and genius it brings to you.
She also writes this:
Emotions are a vital part of everything you are: every relationship; every dream; every failure; every triumph; every act of violence; and every act of love.
Learn their language, and you can change the world.
If you’d like to learn how to work directly with the genius in your emotions, this book is a great place to start. It’s a one-of-a-kind exploration into the power and brilliance that live in your emotional realm.
